The Suitcase Project

In 2018 Ms Lehtonen’s Social Studies 10 Art Enriched course from Burnaby North Secondary School worked with our PoMo Museum to create the Suitcase Project. Each group of four students created a fictional person based off of real research that they did. From there, they created individual suitcases with chosen items inside. The meaning behind the project was to remove the anonymity that immigrants are often faced with and to give them a story.

The suitcase project is on display in the waiting room of the Station Museum.

The suitcase project is available in a changed format as the Immigration to Canada educational program. The program gives students an introduction into the various aspects of immigration.
